Witney, United Kingdom Abbott Laboratories Full time

Bring your passion, ideas and purpose to life in a company that can truly help you achieve your full potential.

Abbott is about the power of health. For more than 135 years, Abbott has been helping people reach their potential — because better health allows people and communities to achieve more. With a diverse, global network serving customers in more than 160 countries, we create new solutions - across the spectrum of health, around the world, for all stages of life. Whether it’s next-generation diagnostics, life-changing devices, science-based nutrition, or novel reformulations, we are advancing some of the most innovative and revolutionary technologies in healthcare, helping people live their best lives through better health. At Abbott, you can live your best life whilst doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.

Working in a small and friendly team, you will be providing technical support to Witney’s manufacturing facility. Day-to-day, your work will be to plan and carry out projects and investigations to support manufacturing processes and yield improvements. This may involve projects relating to raw materials, manufacturing processes or finished products. You’ll need to enjoy interpreting data and writing reports, as a lot of your work will involve analysing results and making recommendations on material, machinery or process improvements.

You will also be given additional responsibility for continuous improvement projects and will be required to provide technical expertise to colleagues in engineering, production and quality. This will include writing technical reports and process documentation.

To be successful, you should ideally have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline, or the equivalent experience. Those with a strong secondary level education and a passion for science are also encouraged to apply. You must also have excellent attention to detail skills, a logical and methodical approach to problem solving, the ability to prioritise and the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances or new demands. A lot of your work will involve cross-functional teams, so you’ll also need the communication and inter-personal skills to be able to build relationships with colleagues in various departments across the business.

You will be expected to spend time in the manufacturing facility, so will need to have, or be able to develop, good hands-on practical skills. Good IT skills including Excel and PowerPoint are required for this role.

In addition to a competitive salary, Abbott offers a highly attractive benefits package which includes a defined-contribution pension scheme, a share ownership scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme which you can tailor to your own requirements. Here at Witney, we also like to help our employees live life to the fullest, and therefore we offer a range of optional initiatives for you to get involved in, including onsite allotments, couch to 5k campaigns, bee keeping, yoga and more

We politely request that agencies do not make contact in regard to this role.
