**The Opportunity**
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work in a Medivet hospital alongside Vets and Nurses? We are looking for a motivated and friendly individual with a strong passion for animal care and welfare to join us as a Kennel Assistant.

You will be working in all areas of the practice learning the core principles of veterinary nursing. This is a unique opportunity for individuals who do not desire to progress to college and become a student veterinary nurse, or do not meet the entry requirements at present.

8 hour shifts, 5 days per week

37.5 hours a week

**Key Accountabilities**

This is by no means a complete list. Duties may be added or removed based on the needs of the hospital.
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting throughout the hospital.
- Maintaining upkeep of laundry, including hand-cleaning, and folding.
- Ensure the exterior of the hospital is always clean and presentable.
- Stock housekeeping supplies as needed
- Upkeep consult rooms by collecting and throwing out rubbish, sweeping, mopping and wiping down walls.
- Disinfect exam rooms.
- Cleaning out kennels.

Assisting the veterinary nursing team with ad hoc duties such as:

- walking or holding patients
- setting up theatre
- sterilizing equipment

**Your Skills and Experience**
- Team player who is friendly, compassionate, and hard working.
- Positive attitude and good communication skills.
- Able to take initiative and multi-task.
- Able to lift 12kg
- Able to walk, bend, stand and reach constantly during an 8-hr. shift

Previous work experience within a veterinary practice is desirable (voluntary or paid) along with a willingness to learn; work experience with animals would also be beneficial.
