We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk Council's Private Sector Housing Team as a **Technical Officer** within the Independent Living Service.

East Suffolk Council has developed an agency to support vulnerable individuals to remain independent at home. Central Government make available grant funding for people living with disabilities to carry out adaptations to support independence at home. Delivering these adaptations forms an essential part of this service and this role will support individuals and colleagues to deliver this help.

We are looking for a friendly individual with excellent technical knowledge around building construction and alterations to homes. The individual must also have good inter-personal skills and the patience needed to support vulnerable individuals and work with colleagues who are doing the same.

We are looking for someone with extensive experience of practical building work who can draw up specifications / schedules of work, liaise with contractors, problem solve and be the point of liaison on technical issues between the client and the contractor. You must be able to work with spreadsheets and generally have good IT skills and be open to training and implementing a range of associated issues including the Housing Health and Safety Rating System, Decent Homes standard and energy efficiency initiatives.

We need someone with caring attitude, excellent communication and customer care skills and a desire to help the more vulnerable members of our community.
