Coventry, United Kingdom SEVERN TRENT Full time

Our innovation strategy is simple - We want to solve the challenges we have today as well as find answers to some of our industry’s bigger long-term challenges. Whether it's delivering water that is always good to drink, reducing waste in our processes with energy efficient technologies or improving visibility of the network, our 150+ strong team of innovators are working day in day out to make it happen. If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.

With that in mind we’re looking for a Hydrogeologist to help us as we do this. As a key member of the hydrogeology team comprising of technical specialists that provide technical advice and operational support, and both develop and maintain catchment risk assessments for the business. Our head office is based in Coventry, however, we operate over a large geographical area and work flexibly within it.

Do you come from a hydrogeology or an environmental regulator background and have experience of water resources management? Are you an excellent communicator with great influencing skills, and the ability to communicate simple or complex messages as required to promote practical solutions? Or perhaps you have experience in dealing with operational site investigations, groundwater and the standards around drinking water quality?

Does this sound of interest? If so, then read on.

**EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW**

One third of the Severn Trent Water supply system is obtained from groundwater resources, obtained from approximately 150 sources and 300 boreholes. As a Hydrogeologist you will join a close and supportive team. There is an active technical progression programme and great peer support where a hydrogeologist can contribute, grow and develop whilst delivering great customer service. You will work with our stakeholders to protect and enhance the quality of our groundwater, make improvements to our processes/asset data and undertake investigations so that we have the best evidence available from which we can make sound business decisions.

You will be involved with our day to day operations, investigating live problems to make sure the water is always there for our customers (water quantity and borehole yield) and good to drink (wholesome water quality). You’ll be involved in catchment risk assessments, deployable output assessments, water quality investigations, and be part of an essential operational response function.

We have some very interesting hydrogeological studies with emerging contaminants and water quality to really stretch your conceptualisation and understanding. You will be an innovator and seek to resolve complex challenges.

The areas of work relating to groundwater and hydrogeology include:

- Water quality risk assessments and long-term complex source investigations
- Research on emerging contaminants, investigations and external collaboration with treatment process engineers and our innovation team to promote new strategies
- Building resilience capability into our assets, covering both quantity and quality, and influencing the business to transition away from traditional investment routes
- Borehole capital maintenance schemes, acting as the technical sponsor
- Turbidity, water quality and downhole site investigation programmes to inform capital programmes pre-feasibility, and understand deployable output recovery potential
- Tactical support and advice to operational teams to maintain the availability and quality of the water for our customers.

**WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE**
