Nicholas Associates are working with a leading groundworks sub-contractor who are going from strength to strength and growing at pace, they are a sub-contractor for both blue-chip housebuilders and regional housebuilders. Due to the growth of the business they are recruiting for a Machine Control Installation, Maintenance and Training Engineer.
**Role and Responsibilities**
To work alongside the Engineering Manager, the Senior Engineer and Engineering Surveyors to maximise the potential of Machine Control GPS carrying out installations, maintenance and Training of machine drivers in the use of machine control:
- To carry out machine control installations to all new machinery purchased by the business;
- To transfer all owned machine control equipment between excavators as required and as site demand requires;
- To carry out the setting up of hired equipment as required on a specific site by site basis as demand dictates;
- To set up and manage an ongoing care and maintenance service of all our own excavator and dozer ready GPS machinery to ensure all downtime is minimised;
- The above not only refers to wired and operational GPS machinery, but also to that equipment that is wired but not in use at the time to ensure everything is ready to work as and when needed;
- To liaise with the machinery maintenance staff to ensure that when bucket maintenance is scheduled all buckets are re-calibrated immediately after to minimise any potential level discrepancies and errors.
- To keep accurate documented records of all machine control equipment, installation records, maintenance records to ensure maximum availability and utilisation of our own equipment prior to the need to hire additional equipment as the demand requires;
- To liaise with suppliers as required in relation to hired equipment required to supplement our own and keep appropriate records of on and off hire dates;
- Keep an up-to-date inventory of all spares and equipment held as stock to service and maintain the operating machine control systems owned by the company;
- To provide telephone support to all machine control operators in relation to any day-to-day issues and resolve over the phone where possible;
- To work with the Engineering Manager as and when required to prioritise any machine control work requirements, in order to maximise productivity in minimise down time costs;
- To provide in house training and support to operators of machine control enabled plant to allow us to develop the operators and the benefits of machine control;
- As and when required, install machine control models to equipment on site when setting them up at the commencement of any new or ongoing works on site;
- Any other works associated with the role and required to benefit the business as the machine control journey continues to develop;
- To stay abreast of the latest developments and improvements in machine control, to allow us to stay at the forefront of what we do and be ahead of our competitors to maintain our position as one of the market leaders in what we do in the civils and groundworks sector of construction.
