Possession Planner

**Possession Planner**:
**Bamber Bridge, Preston**

The Planner, reporting to the Responsible Planning Manager, shall have the responsibility of overseeing Possession’s booked whilst also keeping good communications between the client, Responsible Manager and resources carrying out the possessions.

**Roles and Responsibilities**:

- Arranging line blockages through the use of GZAM system (or NR RailHub)
- Producing and maintaining possession plans within the PPS or RailHub system
- Creating and keeping records of SWPs and worksites using various tracker and online systems (QTS/OnTrac)
- Resolving possession and worksite conflicts with NWR and other contractors
- Attending the relevant planning integration meetings on a regular basis
- Consult with the person in charge and seek advice/guidance from other competent persons, as required, when producing an SWP (e.g. COSS/SWL or a person with task specific competence).
- Booking isolations within worksites
- Produce Safe Work Packs (SWP’s).
- Overseeing all rail planning operations within their division.
- Liaising with the Responsible Managers in respect of maintaining continuity throughout the company.
- Undertaking planning operations for which they are competent.
- Liaise with other contractors for track access where applicable
- Work closely with Network Rail and in-house project teams with regards to track access.
- Resource staff & equipment for each possession or isolation site.
- Work in accordance with GERT8000 Rule Book and NR/L2/OHS/019 (as amended), Safety of People Working on or Near the Line.

**Minimum requirements**:

- Minimum of 5 years safe systems of work and possession planning experience
- Proven track record in possession planning and completing SWPs
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships within Network Rail and other contractors
- Excellent understanding of access planning processes and systems with detailed knowledge of relevant standards and procedures
- Full UK driving license
- PTS and SSOWP Sentinel competencies
- Trained to the PDSW process
- Competent in the use of PPS for booking work sites and isolation, GZAM/RailHub system for booking line blocks and preparation of all safety critical paperwork including WPP, SSOW.

As a Possession Planner you will be expected to be involved in Possession’s throughout the UK within the rail transport infrastructure.
