The Environment Agency is seeking a passionate strategic thinker to manage a team of environmental specialists seeking to achieve integrated environment planning across Yorkshire. As Team Leader of the Integrated Environment Planning (IEP) team, you will work widely with internal and external partners leading your team to develop and interpret strategic evidence across Yorkshire River catchments. With the support and knowledge of your environmental specialists, you’ll provide direction and strategic guidance for how we will deliver and develop our water environment opportunities, this includes building our Water Framework Directive, Water Quality Monitoring, River Basin Management Plan, Yorkshire Chalk Plan, Diffuse Water Pollution Plan, Learning and development for Water, land and biodiversity, GIS, data and mapping and much more.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
- The team- IEP works to continually strengthen our evidence base and drive integrated delivery to achieve the best for Yorkshire’s environment. We work with other teams locally and national colleagues to shape ways of working, improve and update the river catchment evidence base.
We are a team of 7 enthusiastic, supportive and knowledgeable people, with many members of the team recruited new into roles in the last 12 months from both internal and external appointments.
- Experience/skills required- You'll be passionate about managing, developing and supporting people and will be a positive role model who can inspire others.
You'll be able to balance and manage demands on the team from internal and external sources to help prioritise and manage workloads. It's essential that you are an excellent communicator and are able to influence teams and partners to think strategically when delivering environmental outcomes.
You should also be able to demonstrate political awareness when dealing with customers, stakeholders and communities.
You will have strong management skills and believe that providing great leadership is fundamental to our ability to protect and improve the environment for people and wildlife. You should have experience of developing people, to ensure that an appropriately skilled team is maintained.
You should be willing to develop incident management skills and experience and be prepared to support Yorkshire during times of flooding, prolonged dry weather and drought.
