You must have experience of leading a small team in food production, or some food production supervisory experience and ideally packing/flow-wrapper experience.
Positive energy and attitude are key.
Shifts AM 5am - 1.30pm and PM 1.30pm to 10pm Monday to Thursday. Friday finish at 9pm.
It is on a rotating shift pattern. AM one week, PM, the next week. Alternating.
**Pay rate - around £23.5k start. £25k after probation period.**

Job Description & Person Specification
Job Title: Packing Line Leader
Departmental Responsibility: Responsible for the effective and efficient running of the cutting and packing operation ensuring that all products entering the packing line are of a consistently high quality and wrapped and sealed to the expected standards.

Job Purpose
The Packing Line Leader is responsible for the efficient co-ordination of daily packing schedules of all Devonvale products including hand baked flapjacks, crumbles and cake slices, in line with set production schedules, quality standards and health and safety protocols. With a focus on always ensuring the highest quality of products whilst motivating the Packing team to achieve, and where possible exceed, production targets & pre-determined KPI’s.
Core Accountabilities
The following sets out the principal duties & areas of work related to this post however, the post holder is expected to perform other duties which are commensurate with the nature of their post and as may be reasonably requested by management.
1. Production
- Demonstrate effective management of the Packing team, ensuring that all products entering the packing line are of a consistently high quality and wrapped and sealed to the expected standards.
- Communicate daily production schedules to your team and motivate them to achieve and where possible exceed, daily & weekly production targets without compromising quality.
- Champion product quality and ensure that all products meet quality standards encouraging your team to take pride in the products they produce, constantly monitoring quality and promptly addressing issues as they arise.
- Competent in the setting up and operation of all machines on the packing line and able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the running of those machines, including setting up of product and box labels, ensuring they are printed with the correct specifications, dates and batch codes and that product integrity is always maintained with accurate sealing.
- Take responsibility for any errors and ownership for resolution of any problems or unscheduled circumstances until completed and/or resolved within the packing area, seeking assistance from the Operations Manager, Production Shift Supervisors/Managers & Stock,
Materials & Planning Manager as required, whilst also keeping them informed at all times so production schedules can be reviewed and adapted as required.
- Daily and frequent liaison with the Stock, Materials & Planning Manager and Production Shift
Supervisors/ Managers regarding changes to production schedules and targets, demonstrating a flexible and positive approach to adapting to changes and communicating these to your team.
- Liaise daily with the Production Shift Supervisors/Managers and Lead Bakers to ensure effective teamwork across the production line and where appropriate, relocate team members to assist other parts of the production process so that production schedules and targets are not compromised.
- Be responsible for initial fault finding on all departmental equipment and fixing faults within agreed parameters with the Operations Manager.
2. Quality, Efficiency & Costs
- Positively & pro-actively support the Production Shift Supervisors/ Managers and Operations
Manager to improve productivity within the Bakery by minimising all forms of waste including but not limited to, time, product wastage and production errors. Implement appropriate control and monitoring processes to improve processes within your area of control.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement; motivating and empowering your team to improve performance, increase and maintain quality, reduce waste and deliver on KPI’s.
- Ensure that all control checks are carried out in line with Company procedures and all associated documentation is correctly completed as set out in the Quality Management
System (QMS).
- Accurate completion of all daily and weekly production document’s relating to the QMS.
