**Goals Academy Project Worker**
**Salary: £19,656 based on working 36 hours per annum**
**Hours: 18 hours per week**
**Location: Belfast area**
**About the role**:The Project Worker will be responsible for the recruitment of participants from North and West Belfast to take part in our Goals Academy. Following the recruitment of participants, the Project Worker will design and deliver the first 2 pillars of the Goals Academy: Pillar 1- Empowerment and Pillar 2- Experience. This will include the design and delivery of workshops, training and PSD sessions for the participants which have been recruited. The Project Worker will also work alongside the Manager and Project Co-Ordinator to promote and enhance the 4 Pillars of Development within the Goals Academy programme.
**About Active Communities Network**:Active Communities Network was established in 2007 in response to the closure of Sport England’s Active Communities Development fund. The charity has developed from a collective of small grassroots groups in south London to a global provider in the sport for development collective. The charity currently supports c6,000 young people per annum across its own delivery sites in London, Belfast and Manchester, with a network of c200 groups working with us to support the delivery of our mission - create opportunities, inspire change, tackle inequality.
**DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- To operate as the GA Project Worker within North and West Belfast Areas
- Undertake and review the referral/recruitment process of GA Programme.
- Design and deliver Youth Lead Sessions/Workshops/Training etc, that are reactive and tailored to the young people’s needs and aspirations.
- To provide an intense mentoring support service to each participant, to help them create opportunities, reach their potential, and help them promote and recognise their developments and achievements.
- Identify and address barriers that are facing some Young People and implement and develop tailored support systems, to help these young people overcome such barriers.
- Support young people into the 2 other Pillars of the GOALS Academy.

Pillar 4 - Enterprise
- Risk assess all sessions/workshops/training etc to ensure the safety and safeguarding of young people and staff are paramount.
- Work with the staff team to create vibrant and meaningful Programme of Development.
- Work with relevant partners to facilitate referral mechanisms to ensure the service is outreaching those most excluded. Whilst developing and enhancing the referral system to ensure that is inclusive.
**PERSON SPECIFICATION**
- Level Two & Three Diploma in Youth Work Practice and/or Sports Coaching.
- A minimum of 1 years’ experience of planning, delivering, and evaluating group work activities.
- Experience of mentoring young people and facilitating progression routes into education, employment, or training.
- A comprehensive understanding of young people, the issues they face and the wider issues affecting Young People within their communities.
- A track record in building alliances with partners across the 3 Sectors, Statutory, Community and Voluntary.
- An ability to build relationships with young people, peers and support networks.
- Basic IT skills
- Knowledge and experience of Monitoring and Evaluation Systems and processes.
**GENERAL DUTIES INCLUDE**:
In carrying out the above the post holder will:
- Provide general administration support.
- Support Active Communities Network with events and publicity
- Support SMT with day-to-day delivery of the GA Program
- Work flexibly including evenings and weekends.
- Work with due regard for ACN core values and objectives.
- Ensure the effective implementation of, and adherence of ACNs Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Assist central staff with Reporting, M+E and Reflective Practice
