Applications are invited for the post of Campus Sports Leagues Referee in the Active Lifestyle and Sport Department

We are seeking enthusiastic students to join the Active Lifestyle and Sport department on a part-time casual basis to help assist the Campus Sports League programme.

The post holders will contribute to our growing football offer as part of our successful participation programme with responsibility for refereeing the Campus Football Leagues.

Successful applicants will be required to complete the FA Refereeing Course. Will have a keen interest in football and sports development, you will be flexible, with good communication and interpersonal skills. You will also be highly motivated, punctual, enthusiastic and can work unsupervised and use your own initiative.

Successful applicants must have the ability to remain calm under pressure and always be honest and completely impartial.

**Key Tasks**
- Providing refereeing services (e.g., follow the play and make decisions, communicate clearly with players, control the behaviour of teams on the pitch) for Campus Football Leagues and ad hoc football matches
- Inspecting pitch and markings, and ensuring equipment is safely set up before each match
- Ensuring the fixtures run smoothly and in a timely manner (excellent organization and time management skills)
- Collecting and keeping track of results and achievements from each game to assist with the reporting of the league’s successes (man of the match, goal scorers, clean sheets)
- Supporting the Football Coordinator and other officials maintain accurate records of the matches.
- Monitoring the matches to identify any potential safety risks or hazardous conditions
- Intervening promptly to prevent or mitigate unsafe situations, such as dangerous plays or confrontations between players
- Attending and helping with the delivery of any one-off events at the University

**Job requirements**

**Essential**:
Knowledge and understanding of physical activity and sport, including Higher Education sport and participation sport initiatives.

Recognized football referee qualification (minimum FA small-sided qualification) or a commitment to attending a qualification course.

Knowledge of Football and its requirements.

Knowledge of Health and safety and Risk Assessments or willingness to learn.

Awareness of the importance of equality and diversity in the health and sport environment.

**Skills and Abilities**:
Excellent personal and communication skills.

Able to demonstrate good personal organizational and problem-solving skills.

Proven ability to work as a member of a team and on their own initiative.

Flexible, highly motivated, and enthusiastic.

The ability to deal professionally with all inquiries.

An active interest in setting high standards of customer care.

**Other Requirements**:
Current student at Royal Holloway.

Ability to undertake the physical duties associated with the role.

Willingness to work weekends and outside of normal working hours, as required.
