General Maintenance Worker

Urban Housing Services, provides shelter and support for asylum seekers. You will be responsible for providing general maintenance in our hostel, ensuring it is maintained to both a high standard and in compliance with contractual requirements.
The role will require flexible working and on-call work. Initially, you will be working 2 x 8 hour shifts per week - Thursday and Friday.
The role will see you undertaking regular planned preventative maintenance to the building.
The role will also require accurate record keeping of all planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance.
The role will require you to ensure that relevant safety measures are in place.
You will also be required to undertake any general reactive maintenance tasks as and when required. These will include carpentry, basic plumbing, identifying electrical faults, glazing, and painting and decorating. You may also be asked to participate in some gardening duties.
You will need to possess a minimum of three years’ experience in building/general maintenance work, knowledge of building compliance and health and safety regulations and general skills in carpentry, basic plumbing, glazing, painting and decorating. Ability to undertake electrical work is desirable but not essential.
IT skills are essential. Repairs / checks are logged on a database system
Additional languages are desirable but not essential.
**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: From £12.26 per hour
Expected hours: 16 per week
