We are looking to recruit a Band 3, HSDU Decontamination Night Supervisor, to join our friendly and enthusiastic small team within our HSDU decontamination unit

To undertake decontamination duties and assist in providing a specialised decontamination of medical devices service contributing to the clinical care of the patient.

To carry out the receipt, disassembly, cleaning, disinfection, reassembly, packing, sterilization or high level disinfection of reusable medical devices.

Clean and maintain instruments to strict standards of decontamination in line with Unit Policy

To Record all processes in the track and trace database.

To deal with all levels of customer queries via; telephone and direct personal contact, including clinicians, nurses and other practitioners.

To provide supervision to Decontamination Technicians and provide support around training needs, appraisals and to ensure all staff carries out duties as per policies and procedures.

Work in accordance with the Department’s Standard Operating Procedures and Quality Management System ISO13485:2016.

This role involves shifts working between 21.00 - 7.30 Monday & Friday and 21.30 - 7.30 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday over a 4 day period rolling 2 week rota Weekend working and bank holidays will be required and rostered on a fair share basis.

Main

**Responsibilities**:

- To organise the efficient and effective operation of the day to day production processes by prioritising and delegating departments work load to staff under their supervision
- To prepare goods and services for customers utilising all areas in department
- Supervise departmental staff, altering rotas ensuring staffing levels relate to the workload
- To assist with distribution of clean supplies to theatre, wards and other department
- To ensure that all priority requests, and that all turnaround times and contractual deadlines are adhered to
- To undertake operation of equipment e.g. Washers/Storage Cabinets and other relevant machinery and carry out routine tests in accordance with the Planned Preventative Maintenance Schedule, Quality Standards and Guidance
- Be receptive to training and development
- To communicate with enquires from users, and other members of healthcare staff in a polite and helpful manner, seeking scientific staff advice where required.
- To undertake duties as required, consistent with the responsibility of the grade and needs of the service.
- To communicate with users on the telephone if calls are received in production areas. Refer all queries to Supervisor or Deputy Manager.
- Assist with the department’s internal audit.
- To undertake general housekeeping and cleaning of workstation(s)
- To participate in the departmental Qualification in Decontamination training programme
- To deal with any reported Faulty equipment as per procedures
- To assist and support the management team with the testing regimes as set out within the relevant HTM’S
- To participate in monthly Supervisor meetings to ensure team objectives are being met
- To operate the computer system as required, after receiving suitable training on various relevant systems
- To abide by all rules and regulations lay down by the management, Health & Safety etc. and to wear appropriate uniform at all times, during working hours, within the Department
- Any other duties within the scope of a Sterile Services Dept. as may be required from time to time
