Health Care Support Worker

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 2 Health Care Support Worker to join our compassionate, friendly and forward thinking team. Padarn ward is a 15 bedded acute medical ward which specialises in Respiratory.
Padarn Ward demonstrates a supportive and encouraging environment with an opportunity to learn many new skills within an acute setting, whilst working alongside the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and contributing to high quality care and intervention.
This post is of an evolving nature and the job description is based upon a flexible core competency framework that will enable the post holder to develop their role. This role is linked clearly too minimum training requirements providing competency to practice.
Following the completion of training and achievement of core competencies they will be expected to deliver a range of basic nursing duties to patients, ensuring that privacy, dignity and respect are maintained at all times. The post holder will be required to carry out a range of assigned tasks, participating in the delivery of basic nursing duties under the supervision of a registered nurse.

You will be required to demonstrate competence in assessing, planning and evaluating the care needs of a group of patients with support from your ward manager, colleagues and educator team.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. - Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
- Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
- 48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
- Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
- Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
