CSE is a Bristol-based national charity (#298740) founded in 1979 to help people and organisations address the climate emergency and end the misery of cold homes. We do this by giving advice, managing innovative energy projects and undertaking research and policy analysis.

To work towards our mission, we depend on our skilled and committed staff (around 100), who are normally based in our offices in central Bristol. At any one time we’re working on between 70 and 90 different and separately funded projects.

**Youth Engagement Officer **- The Role**:
This role will play critical role in the development and delivery of CSE’s Future Generations programme with the aim of ensuring that all young people feel inspired and able to play a meaningful role in catalysing and delivering the transition to a more sustainable and fairer energy system.

It is anticipated the role will play a significant role in advancing our Future Generations programme. You will contribute practical skills and expertise to LACE’s priority youth projects and provide support to other CSE teams to better integrate youth voices and perspectives into their work.
- To design, support and deliver on CSE’s range of priority youth projects, for example Bright Green Future and our current climate and energy work with schools.
- To provide basic project management for one or more small-scale youth engagement projects.
- To contribute to the promotion and communication of projects to ensure effective engagement with our target audiences (in conjunction with Communication and Publicity Manager).
- To develop partnerships and liaise with a range of stakeholders, including educational institutions, partner organisations, local authorities, and funding partners.
- To contribute to the work of the Development team and the Director of LACE to identify and develop new opportunities associated with the development of CSE’s work with young people.
- To represent CSE at external events and conferences as required.
- To liaise with other staff in the LACE team to ensure effective workload planning, project development and delivery.
- Any other duties as required by line manager, Director of Team or the Chief Executive

**Youth Engagement Officer - Requirements**:
You’ll have 5 years (or more) experience of working directly with young people, ideally in an educational context, and bring a proven track record in either supporting young people’s personal development or delivering educational activities or facilitating youth participation in governance and policy processes.

You’ll have a strong interest and some understanding of energy and climate, but they don’t have to be an expert.
- O’Level/GCSE Maths and English, minimum, relevant degree or equivalent experience an advantage.
- Five years or more designing and running interventions in educational settings - for example, teaching in a classroom setting or running activities and workshops for visiting school groups etc.
- Understanding of key issues and approaches to inclusion when working with young people from a range of different backgrounds.
- Excellent administrative efficiency - e.g. record keeping, procurement, diary management, event organisation, and budget monitoring.
- Able to engage a wide range of young people in a creative and inspiring manner.
- Working on multiple priorities at the same time, in a fast-paced environment.
- Risk assessing youth events and understanding safeguarding measures.
- Evidence of a positive ‘can do’ approach and flexible attitude to work and project development and delivery.
- Social media knowledge, skills and experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail, good time management skills, including priority setting, multi-tasking and problem-solving.

**Advantageous to have**:

- Creating and designing educational activities with an environmental focus.
- Creating educational resources in a range of contexts
- Project development and management or proposal writing experience or qualifications.
- Applied knowledge of the educational system and curriculum in UK, with specific knowledge about opportunities for the integration of environmental priorities.
