MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To lead and manage a team of middleware developers providing support and development capability across a number of platforms.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Delivery
- Hands on 1st to 3rd line support and development
- Drive continuous improvement across all supported platforms
- Work within the development framework, making use of existing components and practices where available.
- Manage team rota ensuring appropriate level of support including out of business hours
- Ensure the quality of solutions with appropriate unit and system testing.
- Adhere to and enforce agreed development and testing standards
- Deputize for Head of Interfaces.
Management
- Line management of the team including hiring, absence, objective setting and performance management
- Accountable for all aspects of the team's performance
Risk & Compliance
- Ensure all activity fully complies with the appropriate policies, procedures and controls
- Strict adherence to change management and privileged production access management processes
Culture and Leadership
- Promote the MUFG values-led culture which is inclusive and diverse.
- Promote a dynamic, delivery driven culture that works alongside business units to provide responsive resolutions and value driven solutions.
- Leadership by example on cyber awareness to embed a proactive cyber culture.

- Build relationships across the bank, establishing a strong peer network and helping to strengthen collaboration.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Experience in analysing, documenting and proposing result driven solutions for Financial services sector.
- Thorough experience in translation of core business objectives into functional specifications, and writing user stories are essential.
- Must have worked under controlled and standardised environment such as PLC, SDLC producing technical design, test plans and implementation plans.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Functional / Technical Competencies:
- Detailed practical knowledge of transactional messaging and STP solutions
- Experience of managing multiple stakeholders with differing priorities.
- Good understanding of software development methodologies including agile and waterfall
- Proficient in core Java
- Experience running a small technical team would be an advantage
Education / Qualifications
- Degree educated or equivalent experience.

PERFORMANCE AND DUTIES
The role holder will be assessed in accordance with their employing entity’s performance framework and process with relevant input obtained from the dual hatting entity as relevant.
As duties and responsibilities change, the job description will be reviewed and emended in consultation with the role holder. The role holder will carry out other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the role as requested by their line manager or Department Head.
MANAGING CONFLICTS OF INTEREST
- The role holder will have responsibilities for both MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc.
- The role holder will be required to perform their duties and responsibilities on an entity neutral basis, without favour.
- The role holder is required to follow regulatory requirements applicable to ensure each business is appropriately supported and to maintain the legal entity integrity of each of MUFG Bank and MUS.
