To carry out appropriate quality dental treatment and dental health promotion for all groups of patients cared for by the Community Dental Service. Patients will have a variety of special needs including learning disabilities and behavioural problems, physical disability, mental health conditions and complex medical conditions.

To assist the Clinical Lead for CCDS in ensuring that appropriate, accessible, and effective dental services are available to all patients referred to the CCDS.

To organise, monitor and evaluate the provision of dental care and provide information for the development of services and training of staff.

Coventry Community Dental Service is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated senior dental officer with the skills and experience to provide dental care to patients with special needs, physical disability, mental health problems or other conditions / presentations that make it difficult to access a general dental practice. Our friendly team includes dentists, therapists, nurses and oral health promotion staff who all share a desire to provide the highest quality of service for all patients accessing the service.

This new post holder will have the opportunity to participate in the provision of special care and paediatric dentistry, incorporating Inhalation and IV Sedation, General Anaesthetic sessions, Domiciliary care and working on our mobile dental unit. In addition to the clinical caseload you will play an important part in the service’s continuous development and our aspiration to further improve on our 2017 CQC ‘good’ rating in all five areas of assessment.

The community dental service is based in a recently constructed purpose-built Health Centre close to the city centre with nine dental surgeries. The service currently operates Monday to Friday.

To be suitable for this post, you must be registered with the General Dental Council and be able to demonstrate an appreciation for, and compliance with, the Trust’s visions and values. Your development is important to us and will be supported with in-house supervision & training, regular 1:1’s and inclusion in the Trust’s appraisal system.

Car driver and owner essential.

The Health Centre is located within easy access to all transport links. Alternatively, if you do choose to run or cycle to work, a secure bike lock up is available free of charge, and showering facilities are conveniently located on the same floor as the department.
