Band 7 Advanced Orthoptist (Lead for Glaucoma Services)

**Please Note**: This is a fixed-term post for 9 months to cover maternity leave.

We are looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Band 7 Orthoptist to join our team of 17 orthoptists and 4 optometrists, to lead the orthoptic input to the glaucoma service.

The Glaucoma Lead Orthoptist has a responsibility to work with the the Glaucoma Consultant to deliver the Stable Glaucoma and Glaucoma Screening services, based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

The post holder will be responsible for service planning and delivery, as well as audit of these services.

They will also be a key senior member of the orthoptic team, delivering orthoptic care to children and adults across Berkshire.

The post holder is an highly skilled and experienced orthoptist who, acting within their professional boundaries, provides comprehensive, high quality Orthoptic services as an autonomous practitioner, and work as an effective member of the cross-county Orthoptic team in the assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with ocular motility disorders and amblyopia.

The Advanced Orthoptist is also responsible for a subspecialist area within the Ophthalmology and Orthoptic service.

They will work autonomously but within Trust and HCPC policies, protocols and guidelines, demonstrating safe, clinical decision-making, high levels of critical thinking and holistic practice.
