We are committed to continuously improve our commissioning, procurement and contract management capabilities and we are delighted to advertise an exciting opportunity to join the Council’s high performing Contract Management and Quality Assurance team as a Commissioner.

In this role, you will support and contribute to the delivery of our strategic priorities and objectives as a commissioning authority across contracts that span all three Directorates. You will also have an integral role in both the development and delivery of commissioning strategies to meet the needs of the Council.

You will value and develop strong collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders to undertake commissioning activities across a wide range of category areas, such as ICT, HR (Human Resources), Finance, Property Services, Transport, County Highways, Waste Management, Fire and Rescue, Education and Social Care.

You will also progress the delivery of robust and integrated commissioning intentions and frameworks across the whole Council, which will encompass extensive needs assessment, evidence-based research and efficient use of resources and outcomes for the Council.

It is essential that you have work-based experience in either a Commissioning, Strategic Procurement, Category Management, or similar role. You will also need to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the role and importance of Commissioning alongside an awareness of relevant procurement legislation that applies to public sector bodies in England and Wales. It would be desirable if you have knowledge and experience of corporate services supply markets and relevant public sector experience.
