Are you a tenacious and highly motivated individual with a passion for upholding planning regulations and making a tangible impact on your community? We have an exciting opportunity for an Interim Planning Enforcement Officer to join the prestigious Hillingdon Borough Council. As an integral part of our Planning Enforcement Team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the vibrant borough.

**Contract**: 3 months +

**Pay rate**: £45 p/h umbrella

**Hybrid**: Yes

**Duties as a Planning Enforcement Officer will include**:

- Taking the reins on managing large and intricate planning enforcement cases, showcasing your exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Embarking on unaccompanied site visits, identifying breaches of planning control - even those involving perplexing land use issues - ensuring that no detail goes unnoticed.
- Collaborating with Planning Enforcement Team Leaders, making informed decisions and devising action plans to uphold planning standards.
- Drafting persuasive letters to both contravenors and complainants, outlining the Council's approach to resolving issues.
- Demonstrating your finesse in negotiating with contraveners to rectify complex breaches of planning control, creating positive and long-lasting solutions.
- Showcasing your comprehensive understanding of relevant Planning Legislation, including Permitted Development Rights and Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
- Preparing well-crafted enforcement reports and recommend a variety of enforcement notices, overseeing their proper service.
- Actively contributing to appeal document preparation, providing detailed witness statements and exhibits when necessary.
- Representing the Council at informal hearings and public inquiries, ensuring our commitment to upholding regulations is well presented.
- Investigating and prepare cases for potential prosecutions, overseeing their progression through magistrates courts and, if necessary, through the Crown Court.
- Thoroughly understanding enforcement/planning appeal decision letters, S106 Agreements, and other essential legal documents.
- Developing effective strategies to ensure compliance with enforcement notices, driving positive outcomes for the community.
- Establishing strong relationships with other Council departments, fostering a collaborative and cohesive working environment.

**Requirements**:
To succeed in this role, you must be a dynamic and dedicated individual with previous experience in planning enforcement.

A detailed knowledge of Planning Legislation, strong communication skills, and the ability to think strategically are essential for this position.
