An exciting opportunity has arisen for a reliable, highly motivated and enthusiastic person to join our front desk administration team at Bridgnorth Hospital providing a friendly and efficient reception and administration service to our Minor Injuries, Out-Patient and Main Receptions.

Duties will include the comprehensive use of the computerised Patient Administration System to ensure patients attending Minor Injuries and Out-Patients are booked in appropriately.

Excellent communication skills are an essential component of the role as you will be the first point of contact for face to face, telephone and electronic enquiries from patients, relatives, general public and staff.

This role will be part of a 7 day working programme and occasional weekend and Bank Holiday working may be required in order to ensure continuity of service. There will also need to be flexibility to cover team holidays and absences by working additional hours and these will be negotiated within the team to ensure staffing levels are adequate.

- To provide a full range of reception duties to the Minor Injuries Unit/Out-Patient Department and Main Hospital Reception.
- To register patients on the Patient Administration System (PAS) and RIO and book patients attendance accordingly.
- To arrange Fracture Clinic appointments as necessary for patients attending Minor Injuries Unit.
- To receive and effectively deal with telephone enquiries as necessary.
- To collate data from PAS and RIO for all minor injury attendances as required.
- To ensure that documents relating to minor injury attendances are scanned and linked to the patient record on RIO.
- To provide non-clinical advice to patients as required.
- To provide full out-patient reception duties ensuring patient details are correct on PAS/RIO system and to update as necessary.
- To ensure that all patient notes are available for clinics together with appropriate dictation equipment for consultants and to liaise with Medical Secretaries for any missing notes.
- To be able to electronically and manually search for notes in medical records.
- To make follow up appointments on appropriate out-patient clinics as necessary.
- To ensure that all departmental medical stationery is kept stocked and to ensure all consulting rooms have the appropriate stationery for use by Consultants.
- To book patient transport as required, working alongside and in the absence of the Main Receptionist.
- To act as first point of contact for staff, patients and visitors to Bridgnorth Hospital and to deal effectively with any enquiries.
- To provide clerical/reception duties for staff, patients and relatives at the Hospital.
- Take delivery of goods and effectively deal with delivery notes and forward to Operations Manager/Business Support Officer, working alongside and in the absence of the Main Receptionist.
- To frank outgoing mail and ensure that the post is taken to the Post Office, working alongside and in the absence of the Main Receptionist.
- To reimburse patients who are eligible for a refund of travel costs, working alongside and in the absence of the Main Receptionist.
- Ability to take room bookings/order refreshments and ensure appropriate IT is booked, working alongside and in the absence of the Main Receptionist.
- To comply with all Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust Policies and Procedures.
- To be able to work as a team and communicate with other members of Hospital staff, patients, consultants and members of the public in person or on the telephone.
- Undertake any training needs as appropriate to the development of the service.
