An opportunity has arisen for a Yard Person to join our team on a permanent and full time basis. This is the ideal role for individuals who relish the opportunity to work as a part of a team in a factory environment. The Yard Person will have ultimate responsibility for everything that moves within the yard and stores. You will liaise with supervisors and operatives to support the ordering and distribution of materials and supplies for use in production operations. You will successfully employ best business practices to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs and increase performance.

The typical tasks will involve:

- Operating a counterbalance forklift to load and unload lorries as required
- Processing and inputting stores documentation and carrying out physical stock checks at agreed intervals in order to maintain efficient and cost-effective stock levels
- In the absence of the stock controller, receiving and checking goods on delivery to stores, rejecting and returning materials if in poor condition or outside specification as appropriate (temperature, cleanliness, appearance, labelling, etc)
- Ensuring that deliveries are checked in full on delivery and Delivery Notes and GRN’s recorded and filed straight away
- Storing received materials in an appropriate manner to ensure that materials do not deteriorate prior to use
- Issuing stores to different departments and sites as required
- Collect and deliver goods from or to our customers
- Maintaining the yard, cold store and packaging store in a clean and tidy condition
- Undertaking other general warehouse tasks when not loading/unloading
- Ensuring that health and safety guidelines are followed
- Ensuring that all procedures and paper work comply with our BRC accreditation
- Any other tasks as required

The successful applicant must be a self-motivated individual who has the ability to set their own work rate to meet daily deadlines. Applicants must be computer literate, numerate and be capable of working as part of a team. A fork lift licence is essential.
