These 2-year fellowships are offered in conjunction with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health Medical Training Initiative (MTI) programme. They offer experience in tertiary level neonatology and neonatal transport, as well as the potential to explore other areas of special interest including paediatric cardiology, education and simulation, resuscitation training and human factors training.

The fellows take part in a full-shift pattern of working to cover the out of hours service. Shift patterns include cycles of nights and long days (13-hour shifts), short days (0800-1700) and transport cover (long days and nights) after appropriate training provided.

The Neonatal Unit comprises 20 cots of which 12 are intensive care & high dependency care cots and 8 Special care cots. A full range of neonatal intensive care is available including high frequency oscillatory ventilation, nitric oxide and therapeutic hypothermia. There is close collaboration with specialist tertiary paediatric services such as Cardiology, Nephrology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, and Genetics
