A chaplain is needed to support the work of the Pastoral, Spiritual and Religious Care Team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This bank position will be based at the York Hospital site.

As an autonomous, qualified practitioner the role is to seek out and respond to the pastoral, spiritual and religious needs of individuals, their carers and staff.

The Pastoral, Spiritual and Religious Care Team, of which the Chaplain will be a member, provides for the spiritual, religious and pastoral needs of patients, staff and visitors within the Trust.

The team’s aim is to offer support which is sensitive, appropriate to individual need and which upholds our Trust Values and Behaviours.

The role will be for day cover and in addition the chaplain will also be expected to contribute to the out-of-hours Chaplaincy on call rota.

Substantial, recent pastoral experience in a local faith/belief community setting or equivalent is essential, together with chaplaincy experience within the NHS or within a related acute healthcare setting.

Based at York hospital you will work within the Chaplaincy team across all Trust sites and will receive full support, training and supervision.
