This is a very exciting opportunity to help make a real difference to increasing access to Adult Mental Health (AMH) Clinical Psychology and Psychological Therapy services in North Wales. TYou will be joining a friendly, welcoming, and growing NHS secondary care AMH Clinical Psychology & Psychological Therapies Department, with excellent clinical and research links with the School of Psychology and the DClinPsych Department at the University of Wales, Bangor.

The BCUHB AMH Clinical Psychology and Psychological Services are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced 8a Psychologist, to work as a CMHT psychologist within South Gwynedd CMHT based in Dolgellau. This is a permanent 8a post, and the post holder will work as part of integrated secondary mental health services for adults who have complex and severe mental health needs.

The post holder will be expected to integrate well and co-work with their CMHT colleagues, providing specialist psychological knowledge and expertise to the team. As well as providing direct clinical input to clients, this will also involve working through others by training, supervision, and formulation work. It will also involve attendance at clinical MDT meetings, referral meetings (SPOA), and CMHT business meetings, and strategic and clinical leadership.

To be an active and integrated member of the multidisciplinary community mental health team (CMHT). Provide leadership on psychological knowledge and approaches for the CMHT, in collaboration with the Head of Adult Mental Health Clinical Psychology. To carry a specialist clinical psychology caseload of adult mental health clients referred to the CMHT.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The postholder will independently assess and treat a specialist caseload of service users who receive secondary care intervention via the Mental Health & Learning Disability Team. S/he will provide, develop and manage highly specialist interventions for service users with a range of presentations ie self harm psychosis, personality difficulties and ASD.
- To communicate with service users; their relatives and other professionals regarding formulation, highly complex condition related, highly sensitive life changing or contentious information. Significant barriers to acceptance and understanding may need to be overcome. This may be highly emotive and requires the use of the highest level of interpersonal skills, communication skills and empathy.
- To work in clinical situations, which require intense concentration, which may involve highly distressing or emotional circumstances.
