**We are looking for a General Operative to join our team, this role has scope for progression to learn how to operate our Zund cutting machines and dispatching of goods**
Specialised Canvas Services has been established for over 40 years, and are a nationwide supplier of performance têxtile and other fabric products. We employ around 70 people in all rolesand have bases in Derbyshire and Buckinghamshire. The company has a number of divisions each focused on key product ranges including, Bags & Covers, Flags & Flagpoles, Printed Textiles, Medical and Scientific products.
**Details**:
The Role of General Operative is to provide support and assistance to areas of the business that require production and organisational tasks to be completed as part of the wider manufacturing and organisational operations.
General Operatives are responsible for ensuring that staff are provided with the resources and materials that are needed to undertake their tasks, moving materials and supplies to and from the point of need as well as assisting in the general site organisation and tidiness.
**Major Areas of Responsibility**:
- Measuring and assembling goods in the factory or warehouse
- Operating production equipment such as CNC Cutting Machine & Heat Press. (Training will be provided)
- Welding when required using a High Frequency welding Machine. (Training will be provided)
- Storing goods and raw materials in the factory or warehouse
- Preparing materials for use by other production staff
- Moving materials / finished goods to the appropriate location.
- Using lifting equipment and forklift trucks (where training has been given)
- Packing goods ready for shipment
- Cleaning and maintaining machinery.
- Provide cover for Dispatch (Training will be provided)
- Maintain the working areas of the Production facility ensuring they are clean, tidy and organised fashion and that Health and Safety guidelines are adhered to.
- Cover the Zund cutting machines when required (training will be provided).
- Cover to our dispatching department when required (training will be provided).
Any other tasks as reasonably requested by the Directors or other senior managers.
**Other Requirements**
- The role will require flexibility of working hours to deal with seasonal workload, there will periodically be early starts and late finishes and occasional weekend hours
- You’ll mainly work in a factory or warehouse. You may spend a lot of your time standing while operating machinery or sitting at a workbench or assembly line.
- You’ll usually wear protective clothing, like overalls and safety shoes.
- Holidays 20 days per year + Bank holidays + additional 3-4 days to cover our christmas shutdown.
- This position requires a high level of integrity, discipline and responsibility. It is expected that should you accept this role, that you will uphold the company’s ethos, have a good understanding of the company handbook and lead by example. Failure to do this on 3 occasions within a 6 months period will mean a grade reduction.
- Core Hours: Monday - Friday **8:30 to 17:00**
**Required Skills**:
- Drivers Licence
- FLT licence (desirable)
- Can do attitude.
