Chy is a residential rehabilitation unit in Truro providing drug, alcohol, and mental health treatment services to some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in society. We have an 18-bedded main property and a further 8 beds in a block of flats on the grounds that are used as ‘move on’ accommodation.

Chy welcomes men and women from all over the UK who wish to heal, grow, and make changes to their lives. Many of the people who come to us have experienced multiple traumas and are living with acute mental health support needs.

This is an exciting time to join the team following a year of developments and improvements to the services offered. We are recruiting for a Residential Support Worker, who shares our commitment to supporting our residents on their journey to recovery.

You will be joining a team of passionate and creative people, with the opportunity to work alongside a multi-disciplinary team of person-centred counsellors and a psychoanalytic art therapist.

As a Residential Support Worker, you will support our residents to engage in activities that develop their independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, and most importantly, learning to have fun in their sobriety. This is a varied role, working to a four-week rolling rota, where no two shifts will be the same, but will always be rewarding.

As a residential service, we work on a 24/7 shift pattern. You will receive £50 per sleep in.

To successfully carry out this Residential Support Worker role you will need to be:

- Energetic and enthusiastic, with a willingness to get involved
- Empathic towards the different needs of our residents
- Flexible and willing to work a range of shifts, including weekends and sleep ins
- Qualified to OCN/NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent or willing to achieve this within 12 months
- Able to demonstrate experience of working in the health, social care, criminal justice or other specialist setting, with a successful track record of working with substance misuse service users
- Knowledge and understanding of health and safety, including assessing high-risk situations for service users
- Ability to work effectively as a team player in a collaborative and supportive manner
- Excellent written and oral communication skills: IT skills including, Microsoft packages, Google, and digital media
- Resilient; ability to prioritise and work under pressure
- Organised and excellent time management skills
- Knowledge and understanding of group working, issues affecting substance users, health care needs, rehabilitation, and positive behavioural support
- A driver, with a full UK driving licence and access to the use of a vehicle
