**Salary** - National Living Wage - £9.50 per hour

**Hours -** Annualised contract, average 30 hours per week

1590 hours over 12 month period

Weekend and evening working required

**ABOUT HAREWOOD**

Harewood House Trust is an educational charity which engages 250,000 visitors every year and is one of England’s finest 18th century country houses. Harewood has a magnificent collection of fine and decorative arts; an accredited museum, with a nationally designated collection; it is also the family seat of the Earl and Countess of Harewood.

As an educational charitable trust, Harewood’s key objectives are:

- to preserve for the benefit of the public the House, Gardens and Collections
- to promote the study and appreciation of the arts and sciences
- to provide facilities for recreation.

The Trust also has a commercial arm that manages its trading operation including major outdoor events, conferences, corporate functions, fine dining, cafés and other retail and food outlets throughout the site.

In 2021, Harewood celebrated 250 years since the House was completed. The Trust has great ambitions for Harewood’s future, as well as celebrating its fascinating past, including working on a potential masterplan to ensure Harewood’s conservation, its longevity and its relevance to audiences today.

**JOB SUMMARY**

We are looking to recruit a Retail Assistant to support the day to day running of Harewoods Retail outlets, maximising return and ensuring excellent customer service is delivered.

This role averages 30 hours per week, with some weeks requiring more or less depending on the seasonal requirements of the Trust.

**MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**
- To provide a warm welcome to all Harewood Visitors in a courteous, prompt and helpful manner. The role is customer focused, so customer service experience and communication skills are essential
- To provide visitors with accurate and comprehensive information to optimise the visitor experience.
- To ensure that shop floors are replenished and looking their best on a daily basis ensuring products are well presented and display materials are utilised.
- Ensure stock rooms are always tidy and organised, storing product and display materials safely. You will be required to support with stock takes and stock rotation.
- To maintain the high standards and cleanliness within working areas. Set up, replenish and clear down the working area.
- You must show the ability to work individually and as part of a team.
- Develop in-depth product knowledge in order to help customers wherever required.
- Follow the delivery procedure, making a note of any discrepancies.
- Support with the upkeep of the online shop, keeping products relevant and up to date.
- Follow company guidelines on cash handling including till transactions and cashing up
- Ensure stock room is always tidy and organised, storing product and display materials safely
- Drive shop sales, thereby maximising sales potential.
- Build relations with new and existing customers to encourage returning sales
- Deal with all customer enquiries efficiently and stay calm during all customer interactions including challenging situations
- Assist in implementing markdowns and promotions
- Fulfil online shop orders in a timely fashion
- Any other reasonable duties as requested by the Line Manager.

**Special Considerations**

This role may include some heavy lifting and working outside. Working weekends & bank holidays is essential as part of this role.
