**Fixed-Term: 2 years**

**Full-time: 35 hours per week**

We wish to appoint a Simons Postdoctoral Fellow to contribute to the development of a programme of high quality research as part of the Simons Initiative for the Developing Brain, University of Edinburgh College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. Applicant should have relevant experience in vitro imaging and physiological assessment of rodent models of ASD/ID. Appropriate degree, with relevant post-graduate research experience, normally a PhD.

**The Opportunity**:
Contribute as a key team member to a programme of research into the cellular and circuit mechanisms that underlie the physiological, anatomical and behavioural manifestations of autism and intellectual disability with a specific focus on rodent models. Responsibility for delivering core elements of the research programme by conducting and analysing experiments to address the physiological mechanisms that underlie cognitive deficits with specific focus on hippocampus and cerebral cortex.

**Your skills and attributes for success**:

- Appropriate degree, with relevant post-graduate research experience. Normally a PhD or equivalent professional qualification in brain slice physiology and anatomy.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly, orally and in writing.
- Expertise in relevant approaches and models, analytical techniques and methods.
