National Highways has an exciting opportunity for a passionate and self-motivated Project Manager to join our dynamic team in the south region. In this role you will work on Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) project, the most ambitious project of its kind in thecountry.

You will be expected to have a good understanding of a Project environment and be experienced working at pace within an emergent programme. You will need be delivery focussed and comfortable with engaging with stakeholders at senior level.

The role is based from Aldgate London with the expectation to move to site by 2023. The role will give substantial opportunity for development as the project develops and moves into delivery phase and the number of HE roles on the project increases.

You will be supporting the Senior Project Manager and leading on elements of:

- Developing and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with the Project Directors, CIP technical leads and other key internal and external stakeholders, to ensure full mutual understanding of the projects’ strategic and delivery objectives, to reviewproject performance, and to work towards agreeing solutions that resolve complex issues.
- Defining and monitoring activities for the project delivery team, creating high quality baseline management products and ensuring timely and accurate reports and maintaining specified records.
- Design, agree and implement project plans, to ensure that all activities are appropriately organised to deliver project objectives, are appropriately resourced to deliver the required outcomes.
- Contribute to the development of robust business cases, to clarify business benefits, quantify resource requirements and identify project interdependencies.
- Identifying and evaluating emerging risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints associated with the project, escalating where appropriate. Where necessary, you will develop, agree, and implement solutions to overcome these risks, and manage through theappropriate change control mechanisms.
- Commission and manage the performance of delivery partners and expert consultancy support as appropriate, ensuring that project objectives and requirements are clearly understood, setting clear expectations for health and safety management, time, and cost;and taking appropriate remedial action where necessary.
- Have extensive NEC experience ideally NEC 3 or 4 accreditation.
- Have experience in commercial and change management and a proven ability to deliver outcomes and drive value for money.
- Confidence and experience of making decisions taking into account risk and consequences and taking responsibility for the outcomes.
- Have experience leading a team to ensure delivery
- Have experience of managing or working towards delivering a Development Consent Order.
- Be able to demonstrate the ability to run processes, streamline activities and deliver outcomes in a complex environment with technical experts on a major project.
- Have proven experience of managing or working across multidisciplinary teams, contracts and departments to achieve delivery of medium/high risk projects or high-profile activities.
- Have experience of managing relationships with multiple stakeholders and evidence of skills to influence relationships for positive outcomes.

A bit about us

The Lower Thames Crossing is the most significant new highways infrastructure in a generation. The crossing will support the levelling up of the country, support local and national economic development, join up communities and provide a long term solutionto congestion at the Dartford Crossing. This project will set the standard for delivery of sustainable road transport into the future.

This role is within the Lower Thames Crossing Development Division which has a crucial role to set the scheme objectives and benefits, define the commitments, ensure compliance with standards and monitor, report and communicate benefits.
