Stamford, United Kingdom Stamford Endowed Schools Full time

The Stamford Schools are looking for a supportive Study Mentor to supervise our Resource Centre, while providing guidance to students on how to study and research effectively. This role will be primarily based at our Sixth Form site.

The role of the Study Mentor is to provide supervision of the Library/Resource Centre at our Sixth Form site and offer of guidance to students on how to study effectively, how to research effectively, and how to avoid falling foul of plagiarism when writing reports. Some specific duties will include providing study skills training to students, recommending fiction and non-fiction resources, support students with literature research skills, ordering of new resources, maintaining a quiet and tidy working ethos within the Resource Centre, and liaising with Heads of Departments.

Training will be provided where required on library systems, and technology for learning.

The successful applicant would be motivated by the desire to help students reach their fullest potential as learners, and able to share their own love of learning. A person who understands the process of learning and can help students to develop their own ways of learning to become more effective and fulfilling, will also be essential.

This position reports to the Learning and Resource Centre Manager who has oversight over the libraries at St Paul's, St Martin's and Stamford Junior School. As a provision within the sixth form, the Study Mentor works alongside the Heads of Year 12 and 13 to establish the study skills programme and identify the students who might benefit most from this. The Study Mentor also works alongside our Technology for Learning Coordinator to ensure that students know how to use this technology, including AI, in an appropriate and constructive way.

Interviews to be held shortly after the closing date.

This is a term-time only position (33.6 weeks per year), that attracts an annual salary of £18,684 (actual for term-time only).
