Reporting to the Engineering Manager your role will be to support pre and post contract design activities for a range of engineered solutions for, amongst others, the Energy sector. You will work closely with the Sales team to support with concept designs,costing and technical support during the bid phase. Working both independently and as part of a team during all phases of the project lifecycle, from concept design through to successful delivery and commissioning, you will take a professional and progressiveapproach to supporting the businesses engineering needs; this will include regular interaction with both internal and external customers, and suppliers to ensure that internal and external deadlines are always met. On time delivery and customer satisfactionform the ethos of our client’s business.

**You as the new Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for the following**:

- Supporting the Sales phase by preparing concept design sketches, calculations, and attending customer meetings, if required, both in the UK and overseas.
- Reviewing and interpreting customer requirements provided in the form of specifications, drawings, or international standards.
- Performing detailed electrical system calculations using software or hand calculation, as appropriate, and select appropriate equipment to conform with the client speciation’s.
- Communicating details to enable the production of manufacturing documentation.
- Producing system drawings, wiring diagrams and P & ID drawings.
- Producing customer documentation as a contract deliverable or to support product/supplier approvals.
- Reviewing and approving designs produced by other members of the electrical engineering team.
- Supporting the purchasing process by creating product specifications and assists, where required, in the sourcing of specialist equipment.
- Ensuring that products are designed to budget whilst meeting customer requirements.
- Assisting with the production of operation and maintenance manuals/instructions Complete site surveys and condition assessments, produce technical reports and recommendations as appropriate.
- Providing technical support to both internal and external customers on an ad-hoc basis.
- Taking a pro-active approach to research and development, striving to become a market leader.
- Developing best practices within the design team, constantly striving for continuous improvement.
- Keeping up to date with latest practices, industry standards and available design technology.
- Identifying and implementing new software to support best practice.

**Knowledge & experience required as an Electrical Design Engineer**:

- Experience of working in an electrical design position/team.
- Experience of electrical system design using recognised software and first principles, working to international standards/codes.
- An in depth understanding of hazardous area design according to the requirements the requirements of ATEX, IEC and other hazardous area directives.
- Understanding of the Construction Design and Management regulations.

**In addition, the below would be advantageous**:

- Experience of designing electrical equipment for Gas Turbine Acoustic and Air Filtration systems
- Experience of designing electrical equipment for Renewable Energy systems i.e., Hydrogen, Waste-to-X etc
- Familiarity with North American electrical codes and standards, NEC, NEMA, UL and CSA
- Familiarity with Russian CU TR Certification (Formerly 'GOST R’)
- Experience with Electro-pneumatic systems
- An aptitude for estimating costs and controlling project budgets

Current UK resident

**Qualifications required**:
Engineering Qualification to HND level or equivalent

(Desirable) Electrical Engineering Degree, preferably to 2:1 level
