We are currently recruiting a **Sales Ledger Clerk** to join our team in Barnstaple, North Devon.

It is the role of a Sales Ledger to keep a record of the sales transactions the business has made and ensure the client has been invoiced correctly and on time then monitoring payments made to the business are in line with invoices sent.

**Skills**:

- Strong previous experience in a sales ledger position with good understanding of all internal accounting functions and credit control.
- Experience with high volume of invoicing processing.
- Understand/possess experience of credit insurance knowledge ideal but not essential.
- Invoice discounting/factoring experience preferred but not essential.
- Understanding of foreign currency transactions and dealing with overseas customers.
- Sound knowledge of VAT.
- IT skills, including proficiency in Excel and SAGE 50. Internal training will be available to enhance software skills.
- Minimum of 5 GCSE's A-C (Including Maths and English) or equivalent.
- FMCG Industry experience would be an advantage.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise and organise workload so that all deadlines are met. Working part of a team is also essential to reach the desired goal.
- Able to work under pressure.
- Flexibility to multitask.
- Proactive attitude towards problem solving.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate across all functions of the business.
- Forward thinking, looking to improve efficiencies.
- Customer management: o Setting up new customer accounts and maintaining existing account details within the sales ledger, including management of VAT requirements. o Building and managing relationships with key customers. o Maintaining existing and requesting new credit limits.
- Sales order Management: o Ensuring efficient processing of customer orders o Ensuring correct prices are in place o Data entry into Sage
- Dispatch documentation o Receiving dispatch confirmations o Data entry into Sage as necessary o Preparing delivery notes o Preparing CMRs (standard contract of carriage for goods being transported internationally by road) for EU sales
- Invoicing
- Credit notes
- Credit Control
- Debt Recovery
- Month-end and Reporting
- Working closely with other members of the finance team and communicating with all areas of the business as and when required to meet the requirements of the role. In particular supporting and providing cover to purchase ledger during busy and peak times.
- Support new projects and initiatives across all areas of the business.
- Providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers and stakeholders. Including working directly with the company owners and directors and meeting any request in a timely and professional manner.
