**Why does this role exist?**

We have an exciting opportunity for a Internal Technical Assessor to join the Quality & Compliance Team on a permanent basis

The Internal Technical Assessor is a vital role required to help maintain BRE's licence to trade, assisting in the witnessed assessment programme and to help develop its processes and to support the wider business and BRE’s 2nd line of control.

**The value this role will add**:
Maintaining our licenses to trade regarding external approval from UKAS. We are required by our UKAS accredited standard(s) to ensure the laboratory conforms to ISO 17025 by carrying out internal witnessed/technical audits of:

- The laboratory’s own requirements for its management system, including the laboratory activities
- The requirements of 17025
- Ensuring the system is effectively implemented and maintained
- Plan, establish, implement, and maintain an audit programme including the frequency, methods, responsibilities planning requirements, reporting, which take into consideration the importance of the laboratory activities concerned, the changes affecting the laboratory and the results of previous actions
- Define the audit criteria and scope of each audit
- Ensure that the results of the audits are reported to the relevant management
- Other administrative work will be required to support the team in between performing witnessed audits
- Presentation of the witnessed audit process during UKAS surveillance assessments.

Maintenance of existing processes and procedures plus the opportunity to input into the development and implementation of new quality practices and processes.

Ensuring we maintain our certification and accreditation for our core business activities.

Successful ongoing surveillance and monitoring by UKAS.

Engaging with colleagues across the business to add value to our services.

Satisfactory engagement with, and completion of, the witnessed audit programme.

**What skills, knowledge and behaviours does the role need?**
- Preferable experience of witnessed/technical audits within a laboratory environment.
- A qualification in internal auditing.
- An understanding of quality and laboratory processes and procedures including familiarization with ISO 17025.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative approach to resolution of audit findings.
