**Job Purpose**

We are looking for a motivated and tech-savvy Information Communications Technician (ICT) Apprentice to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing support, troubleshooting and maintenance for our organisation's computer systems, networks, and digital communications. You will also assist with the implementation and maintenance of new technologies and software.

This role sits within the Public Service division of Capita, as part of the Defence, Fire & Security Sector - Electranet Business unit. Electranet is responsible for provision of engineering and telecommunication services to internal and external customers including secure government accounts.

This role will be developed in line with the ICT Apprenticeship Programme and will lead to a Level 3 Information Communications Technician qualification. During the apprenticeship programme you will provide consistent and excellent support across the Information Technology (IT) systems which underpin the Electranet business.

Reporting to the Head of IT, the role holder will become responsible for understanding and interpreting areas of ICT needs and requirements and to develop standardised and efficient ways of working to enable Electranet IT system users to excel. They will work alongside other members of the team and over time be exposed to the variety of disciplines within IT.

What you’ll be doing:

- Providing technical support and troubleshooting computer systems, networks and digital communications
- Assisting with the installation, configuration and maintenance of hardware and software
- Monitoring and maintaining network performance and security
- Helping to design and implement IT policies and procedures
- Participating in the testing and implementation of new technologies and software
- Installing or undertaking basic software upgrades, either physically or remotely
- Establishing and diagnosing the extent of the IT support tasks, in line with policies and Service Level Agreements
- Providing remote/F2F support to resolve customer queries
- Identifying and scoping the best solutions informed by the system data associated with the task
- Testing and evaluate system performance and compliance
- Keeping up-to-date with the latest industry developments and technologies

What we are ideally looking for:

- A minimum of five GCSEs grade C or above (or equivalent) which include English and Maths
- Good communication skills (verbal, written and face to face)
- Strong organisational and planning skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail skills and dedication to quality outputs
- Demonstrable passion for ICT
- Enthusiastic and willing to learn
- Punctual and reliable
- Note - the individual will be expected to obtain national security vetting
