Your new School
Hays are recruiting a Full-Time Teaching Assistant in Merthyr Tydfil Borough Council for a Secondary School which caters for pupils aged 11-16. The role shall consist of supporting a year 8 student with additional learning needs and some aspects of challengingbehaviour on a 1:1 basis. The school's leadership team and teaching staff are well regarded and highly respected for the clear vision the have for the school and its students. The school team are eager to welcome new additions and are always keen to offerhelp, support, and guidance where required. The school are proud to create and maintain a supportive, warm, and creative learning environment for their pupils.
Your new role
The role is confirmed long-term for an Immediate Start, working 5 days a week. However, the school are also interested to bring in both Full-Time and Part-Time members of staff following the Easter Holidays. Duties relating to this role include but are notlimited to:

- Working 1 to 1 with a year 8 student with additional learning needs and some challenging behaviours.
- Demonstrating high levels of patience, empathy, and care when dealing with potentially challenging behaviour.
- Working closely as part of a positive and welcoming teaching team.
- Supporting in the implementation and delivery of a lesson plan, ensuring that students are engaged in their work.
- Creating and maintaining a safe, positive, and enjoyable learning environment.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, it is required that you possess at least 40 days of relevant experience working or volunteering within a School or with children over the course of the last 2 - 3 years. Some of the key attributes and skills needed for this roleinclude empathy, calmness, and patience. Further desired traits include responsiveness, commitment, and a high degree of motivation.
