Being a Healthcare Support Worker is a fantastic starting point in the NHS that provides a taste of what a career in healthcare is really like.

Ella Rowcroft is a 19 bed Elective Orthopaedic ward we specialise in caring for patients that require surgery to hips, knees, shoulder and elbow joints, and have two high dependency beds for patients that need that extra bit off support after surgery. Elsewhere, we do take trauma patients from our other T&O ward if needed to help with patient flow within the hospital.

As a result you will work within a multi-disciplinary team of professionals which will open your eyes to the different roles you might want to work towards in the future; the opportunities to progress are endless

All new starters will be given the opportunity for specialist training and also support in completion of the care certificate.

- observing, monitoring and recording patients' conditions by taking temperatures, pulse, respirations and weight.
- communication with patients, relatives and carers, assisting with clinical duties.
- personal care including infection prevention and control, food, personal hygiene and overall reassurance, comfort and safety.

There are no set entry requirements to become a healthcare support worker though good literacy and numeracy skills are expected, and in some cases GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths are required too.

We are looking for applicants with a minimum of 6 months experience gained within the last 3 years in the care Sector.
