The Good Funeral Company is a business operating within the Diocese of Liverpool. It provides funeral celebrants to assist families with the provision of funeral services for their loved ones. The

GFC operates across the whole Diocese, and with many funeral directors in the region.

The GFC is managed by the Director of the Good Funeral Company. The GFC provision of cover for funeral services is very different from the services offered from the parishes. We support families in choosing the level of blessing / prayerful input. The GFC create a service around the celebration of life, focussing time on storytelling, reflecting and blessing. The GFC gives options, and is a perfect solution for the families who have little or no connection with local parish churches.

**Job Summary**

Working as part of the Good Funeral Company, you are responsible for facilitating the provision of good funeral delivery to clients who book celebrant services. You will act as one of the celebrants with an expectation that you will normally cover no more than 5 funerals per week - as required and working flexibly to accommodate sickness and holiday cover. As role holder, you are expected to work collaboratively with colleagues and respond flexibly to the demands of the role and the changing needs of the service provision.

**Key accountabilities**

To be a supportive colleague to the Director of GFC and Admin Manager in the provision of:

- Planning the shared diary
- Promotion of the GFC to the funeral industry
- The smooth running of the memorial services and events.

To form close working relationships with Funeral Directors to encourage the offering of Christian funerals and to ensure the expedient arrangement of services.

To deliver funerals that are unique and personal, honouring to the life lived, enabling the bereaved to feel the love of God.

To provide best value and good practice, continually seeking to develop ways in which families are better serviced by requesting and acting on feedback from Funeral Directors.

To maintain accurate records, and to manage your own case load of work including liaising with funeral directors, families and others as needed.

To work collaboratively with all departments within the Diocese as necessary

**Essential requirements**

**Qualifications **Educated to GCSE / A level standard (_a)_

**Experience **Experience of working in a church
context _(a/i/p) _

Experience of funeral ministry _(a/i/p)_

**Knowledge **Excellent, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage with the bereaved over the telephone _(a/i) _

Excellent personal organisation and administration skills _(a/i) _

Ability to prioritise tasks and manage own performance _(i) _

Operational knowledge of Microsoft Office packages _(a/i) _

Familiarity and use of social media tools and prevailing technology _(a/i)_

Effective networking skills with an ability to work collaboratively and in partnership with external organisations.
