We are looking for an experienced clinical coder to support with workflow, filing, coding and administrative tasks at our busy practice in Holt.

We are a large practice with over 14,500 patients, 7 GP Partners, a mix of salaried GP’s, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, HCA’s, physiotherapist, and social prescribers. Our main site is in Holt plus we have two branch sites in the nearby villages of Melton Constable and Blakeney. Although busy, we are a relaxed, welcoming, and harmonious Practice.

**Main duties of the job.**
- Filing of clinical correspondence into the clinical system (Emis web).
- Annotating documents for the clinicians and workflow.
- Coding of diagnosis, procedures and results
- Administrative tasks requests by external Health Care Providers (e.g onward referral, repeat tests etc)

**Job description**

The following are the core responsibilities of the clinical coder. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

- Accurately read-coding data on Emis into the patient record.
- Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed actions
- Input and extract data as required to support practice reports
- File and store records as required
- Photocopy documentation as required
- Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patient’s healthcare records
- Input data into the patient’s healthcare records as necessary
- Carry out system searches as requested

**Person Specification**
- Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent
- GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above)

**Skills**
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong IT skills
- Clear, polite telephone manner
- Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
- EMIS skills
- Understanding of clinical coding
- Effective time management (Planning & Organising)
- Ability to work as a team member and autonomously
- Good interpersonal skills
- Problem solving & analytical skills
- Ability to follow policy and procedure

**Experience**
- Experience of Coding and administration
- Experience of working in a health care setting
- Experience of medical terminology
