This post sits within North Ayrshire AMH Psychology Specialty a well-established and enthusiastic team consisting of: Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Nurse Specialist in CBT, Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology and Trainee Clinical Psychologists on the Glasgow University Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Programme and CAAP trainees. You will be involved in delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and other evidence based high intensity psychological therapies to adults presenting with moderate mental health difficulties. You will have opportunity to contribute to: service development, training, supervision and will work closely with colleagues from the AMH Psychological Specialty and wider Mental Health Team. In order to support clinicians in the delivery of their role, the Psychological Service places a strong emphasis on access to appropriate CPD.

This post sits within the Community Eating Disorders team, which is an all-age, pan-Ayrshire service. The core team consists of: mental health charge nurses, mental health dieticians and with support from the Consultant Clinical Psychologist. Additional input is provided from CAMHS and Adult Mental Health Psychiatry. The service is currently looking to expand its provision of evidence-based treatment approaches for children, adolescents and adults presenting with an eating disorder across the life span, including Family Based Treatment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other recommended therapies outlined in the SIGN guidelines.

You will be involved in delivering disorder-specific Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-ED including CBT-E and CBT-T) to adults and adolescents with moderate to severe eating disorders. Working with this patient group provides an opportunity to enhance skills in working with ambivalence, adopting an appropriate clinician stance to encourage early behavioural change, using techniques to address body image concerns and working with family members and carers. You will receive regular CBT-ED supervision and have an opportunity to contribute to service development, training, and service-related audit and research. The post also involves working closely with colleagues within CEDS, and other colleagues from the wider adult and CAMHS mental health teams.

NHS Ayrshire & Arran Psychological Services comprises of over 100 staff including Clinical Psychologists, Counselling Psychologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists in CBT, Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology, Counsellors, Graduate Assistant Psychologists and Masters and Doctoral Psychology Trainees. The Psychological Service delivers area-wide psychological provision through the Professional Lead for Psychological Services, Heads of Specialty and Consultant Psychology Leads across the Psychological Specialties

Services are delivered to the population directly through specialist therapeutic intervention with patients with complex difficulties. Psychological Services provides expert advice, consultancy, training and supervision in order to develop the psychological skills of other health and non-health professionals. It also aims to enhance the delivery of psychological care across the whole healthcare system through formal contribution at strategic and planning levels.

The service places a strong emphasis on governance and has a number of internal special interest and working groups. We provide excellent opportunities for CPD to support high-quality service delivery to patients and career development for our staff. The service has close links with the University of Glasgow, Clinical Psychology Doctoral Training Programme and both the Adult and Child Clinical Associates in Applied Psychology Programmes at Dundee, Stirling and Edinburgh Universities.

We would welcome interest in this post from Trainee CAAP on the MSc Psychological Therapy in Primary Care Programme. Requirement for being appointed to the post is having successfully attained the MSc Psychological Therapy in Primary Care.

Previous experience of working within the NHS and team working in multi disciplinary team/multi-agency settings is essential as are excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Given our pan-Ayrshire service across three Partnership areas, a car driver is preferable.
