**About The Job** Salary**: £23,194- £24,496 per annum (Pro Rata)
**Working Pattern**: 22.2 hours per week,
**Location**: Crawley/Horsham
**Interview Date: 26th March 2023**
Both teams are predominantly office based and deliver face to face appointments to register key life events (births, deaths & notices of intent) to the public ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities and meeting service standards.
The Ceremonies team also operate a Ceremonies technical administration & bookings hub which is office based, as well as delivering ceremonies (marriages, civil partnerships, citizenship and other non-statutory ceremonies) across WSCC ceremony rooms and over 100 Licensed venues across the County.
Most ceremonies are delivered by a team of over 70 sessional staff at weekends and weekdays. The Births and Deaths team also have a small office-based team dealing with the production of copy certificates.
**Experience and Skills**
Key Skills:
- Excellent customer service skills in a variety of settings and the ability to seek continuous improvement and innovation for self and other colleagues
- Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills in order to interact effectively with members of the public and a range of clients with a significant degree of sensitivity and empathy. This includes other service professionals, and colleagues to share best practice, knowledge & learning.
- Good level of literacy and numeracy skills in order to understand the principles and procedures of the service, completing registration documentation and preparing statistical returns.
- Ability to resolve varied problems and deal with sensitive situation independently, planning solutions and making sound pragmatic decisions which will have an impact on the service over the medium term (several months)
- Sound and accurate IT skills for financial and administrative processes and using the service databases.
- Ability to embrace change, learn and absorb new information & skills and have the flexibility to respond to the needs of the service.
Qualifications and/or experience:
- Qualification or experience demonstrating a good level of applied knowledge in understanding organisational, procedural and policy/legal information in a specialist service area (ideally in registration).
- Practical applied knowledge gained by “on the job” experience.
- Evidence of contributing to the delivery of a professional service and dealing efficiently and sensitively with a range of clients and customer queries.
- Experience of handling & accounting for income
