Wee Mack’s is seeking a Room Leader to help us further develop our room for 3-5 year olds, maintaining a high standard of care to our children, meeting the aims and objectives of our nursery and continuously evaluating and improving our provision.
- has a relevant childcare qualification to at least SVQ level 3 (SCQF level 7)
- is familiar with policy and practice in Scotland, including Realising the Ambition, Health and Social Care Standards and GIRFEC
- demonstrates a strong knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection
- is enthusiastic about caring for children and developing positive partnerships with their families
- can communicate effectively with children, parents, colleagues, management and external partners
- is proficient in leading and overseeing planning, activities, observations and next steps
- demonstrates commitment to a play-based pedagogy and its importance in enhancing child development
- is a positive role model, flexible to both the needs of the children and the team
- is SSSC registered and a member of relevant PVG Scheme

Duties are as outlined below:

- creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes learning through play
- ensuring all staff are following our policies and procedures
- supervising activity-planning, ensuring frequent observations are being done and determining next steps to support each child’s individual development
- working closely with parents and/or carers, giving them a high standard of service and feedback, including regular progress reports and daily diaries
- ensuring all relevant child and room records are kept up to date
- making sure that equipment, such as furniture and toys, is in good condition and continuously checked and maintained
- reporting any concerns in line with appropriate Safeguarding and child protection practices
- running the room in line with environmental, health and safety and fire regulations
- conducting relevant risk assessments as required
- any other duty relevant to the organisation of the room, such as managing staff breaks and children’s mealtimes

Salary and Specifics:

- annual salary range of £22607 - £23569 DOE
- 37 hours per week, worked over 4 days Monday - Friday with 1 day off
- 28 days holiday per year plus Christmas shutdown
- Private medical and dental healthcare including mental health assistance
- length of service bonus annually after 2 years
- Staff uniform, relevant training and CPD opportunities provided
