Ascot Doors Limited are an well-established market leader and one of the largest manufacturers and installers of individually designed and made-to-measure high performance retail, industrial and commercial doors supplying all types of steel doors, shutters, high speed doors and loading bay equipment.

Working initially as an Apprentice Draughtsperson, you will be exposed to various aspects of construction design and engineering from within our in-house design department and be given direct training by our design team with opportunities for professional technical training, where you will develop skills in AutoCAD and an understanding for general construction design practices.

**General Summary**
- Work safely at all times, complying with relevant national and industry health and safety requirements.
- Work in accordance with company management systems, policies, and procedures
- Use AutoCAD, and other software to create drawings and models.
- Review and interpret technical information and requirements from different sources e.g., specifications, concepts, stakeholders.
- Identify inaccuracies or discrepancies in engineering drawings and specifications and propose solutions.
- Design engineering concepts to solve engineering challenges.
- Develop effective solutions which satisfy the required standards and can be manufactured, proven, operated, and maintained in a cost-effective way whilst minimising costs.
- Evaluate engineering designs to determine the most effective solution.
- Produce detailed engineering drawings to relevant standards and codes, using paper and computer.
- Check completed drawings for quality, technical compliance, and completeness.
- Communicate and co-ordinate engineering design options with relevant stakeholders, colleagues and clients using sketches, schemes, models, detailed drawings and reports.

You will develop skills in AutoCAD and other software and have the opportunity to undertake day-release education to obtain level 3 diploma in Design and Draughting & BTEC level in Construction and the Built Environment.

**What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?**

The qualification you will gain is: _Engineering Design & Draughtsperson Level 3_

**You will learn how to**:
The apprentice will be trained in aspects of disciplines such as principles of design, identify and analyse design options and selecting the appropriate design, types of drawings and specifications, characteristics of materials, producing drawings using appropriate computer aided design packages such as AutoCAD, Revit and abbreviations and symbols used in design and draughting.

**How will it be delivered**:

- 2 ½ Year Apprenticeship Programme
- Design and Draughting Skills, Knowledge & Behaviours - _delivered in the workplace_
- Level 3 BTEC in Construction and the Built Environment - _Day Release or Remote Delivery (Optional Qualification)_
- Specialist Training Programme Blocks of your choice
- End Point Assessment - Knowledge Test, Practical Test and Presentation/Interview

**Apprentices must show commitment to the following**:

- To achieve apprenticeship standard within the specified time frame
- Attend the apprenticeship induction programme
- Attend all of the training sessions for the programme whenever necessary
- Undertake any other required development work as part of the apprenticeship programme as requested
- Any other duties as deemed appropriate by senior staff.
