Senior Buyer

**SENIOR BUYER (Pharma Supply Chain)**

The Senior Buyer will continue to facilitate the Supply of 'Specials' (Unlicensed Medicines & Special Obtains).

You will have at least some knowledge of the Unlicensed Medicines market (Parallel Import Trading).

Knowledge of the EU parallel trading industry would also be suitable as it provides a good back drop to the imported unlicensed medicine market that would fit comfortably with the skill set and knowledge required for this role. It is anticipated that furtherEU responsibilities could be taken on by the Senior Buyer as part of on-going succession planning.

The role involves both routine and non-routine tasks around purchasing, supplier engagement, providing support and guidance to Customer Services and sourcing unlicensed pharmaceutical products from the EU and the ROW for import into the U.K

The job holder will have a high degree of autonomy and independence in the importing and procurement process within the buying procedures, internal processes and delegation of authority. Autonomy will be high in respect to decision making and negotiation,relating to purchasing price, volumes, delivery schedules, range and product updates.

The role is a key commercial position within the category, the success of which has a real and direct impact on the achievement of the Category’s financial results.

Working with the guidance of the Commercial Manager to maximise the gross profit through the effective procurement of Unlicensed Medicines and Special Obtains. Strong understanding of market pricing, supply and demand. Effective analysis of the relevantformal and informal information and data to support the purchasing decision making process. Work closely with Specials Buyer and suppliers so all opportunities are captured

Minimise commercial and reputational risk. Contribute to the achievement of the Category stock obsolescence targets. Ensure all buying policies and procedures are adhered to. Ensure compliance with GDP and pharmacovigilance as required. Support the continuousdevelopment of the buying process and procedure

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required**:

- Understanding of Specials and Unlicensed Medicines Market and/or EU parallel trading industry
- Appropriate commercial awareness
- Good negotiation skills
- Able to build strong relationships
- Ability to operate under pressure
- Excellent planning and organisation skills & close attention to detail
- Effective communicator & able to work with people at different levels of an organisation
- Numerate and analytical

**-Team worker**
- Proficient in Microsoft tools including 365, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Teams
