**Job Purpose Summary**
We are seeking someone to help deliver our environmental performance improvement strategy of pollution reduction, by providing oversight and management to reduce the frequency and severity of pollutions incidents.
The role leads the co-ordination of local regulatory engagement forums ensuring that we build and maintain effective relationships with our local Environment Agency teams and across our wider business. There is also opportunity to work collaboratively withother water companies across the UK to share insights and seek to understand and implement best practice.
**Main Accountabilities**
Lead and develop a small team to ensure that business processes support the company’s ability to review, understand and coherently evidence, environmental incidents in line with regulatory guidance and expectations.
Ensure business wide activity from frontline operational teams and contractor organisations are effective in learning from pollution incidents to mitigate and prevent future incidents.
Deliver an effective review process for all categorised pollution incidents, to ensure they reflect the industry reporting standard.
Conduct monthly root cause analysis of incidents to inform our continuous improvement of our ways of working.
Drive compliance and consistency in the use of corporate systems and ways of working across operational areas.
Manage local regulator relationships across three geographical regions; chairing monthly review meetings and quarterly local area liaison meetings.
Methodical, systematic planning and coordination of meetings, action follow up, diary management and documenting working practice in adherence to our management systems.
Drive improvements in business understanding through accurate reporting for internal and external governance forums.
Working closely with assurance colleagues to maintain and improve our adherence to environmental guidance and regulation.
**Skills, qualifications, experience - minimum required**:

- Be educated to degree or higher-level qualification in an environmental or science discipline (or equivalent experience from within the industry)
- Have previous experience working in a similar role or industry
- Be knowledgeable and understand Environmental Legislation and/or Regulations
- People management experience preferred
- Be adept in project management and working to deadlines
- Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office be able to navigate corporate systems
- Deliver exceptional service through an enthusiastic and positive approach, taking accountability for your role while working accurately and flexibly within a busy team
- Have excellent communication, both written and verbal, along with strong interpersonal skills, to effectively and clearly interact with our regulators, stakeholders, contractors and colleagues
- Travel will be required around Thames Water’s catchment area and therefore a full driving licence is require
