Linux System Administrator

A fastest growing BioTech firm are looking for an experienced Linux System Administrator to join the team on a permanent basis. The role would be suitable for someone with a breadth of experience building and maintaining effective and resilient infrastructureand is able to provide ongoing incident management and service support for systems and servers.
Main Responsibilities:
- Deployment and administration of Linux or Unix based solutions using virtualisation, containerisation and DevOps tools, techniques & procedures.
- Continually optimise system performance and security, safeguarding them against cybersecurity threats.
- Establish and maintain an infrastructure monitoring program to include timely alerts, and mechanisms for ensuring issues are addressed promptly as they arise
- Introduce automation in routine tasks using tools such as Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, Puppet or Python.
- Participate in cross functional technical projects by provide sound technical input and guidance into project decisions and implement technical infrastructure aspects, following Agile principles.
Role Requirements:
- Qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. computer science, IT, data science, bioinformatics, computational biology, or similar)
- Extensive Unix/Linux systems administration skills
- Demonstrable knowledge of administration of Linux/Unix standard services (Apache, bind, nginx, MySQL, Postfix, iptables, NFS, iSCSI)
- Fluent scripting skills using Bash, Python, R or comparable languages
- Experience of Cloud-based technologies and management (e.g. AWS, Google)
- Knowledge and experience with modern software development practices, including agile development, version control, continuous integration and workflow management tools such as Jira, Gitlab, etc.
- Familiarity with SQL and databases
- Knowledge of pipeline development tools/methodologies (e.g. nextflow, docker)
