At a high level, the sourcing team in Eastern covers:

- Regional activities
- Providing strategies to deliver goods, services or works that benefit the whole region, from commercial services frameworks to trackside security
- Route support
- Ensures each of the 4 routes within the region has an ambitious but realistic sourcing strategy aligned to its business needs and dealing with everything from reactive maintenance requirements to building of new depots
- Capital delivery procurement
- Provide expertise and sourcing solutions for all renewals and enhancements activities within the region, from replacement bridges to multi-million-pound electrification programmes with DfT involvement

**Brief Description**:
As a **Buyer** you will deliver outstanding customer service to our stakeholders and support Putting Passengers First at Network Rail. Join us on our journey of Continuous Improvement to look at ways in which we can further develop our capability, capacity, quality, and service offerings. You will work within the governance and assurance of the Eastern Region to provide a high-quality service that does not import risk. You will also work with our customers and stakeholders to identify procurement strategies, options and ways of obtaining value for money and timely proposals across a broad range of categories including but not limited to:

a. Track side renewals
b. Technology
c. Professional services and project management
d. Products and services
e. Overhead line renewals
f. Station inspection and upgrades

Ability to work together as part of a team to share best practice and to introduce efficiencies in way of working is vital, as is working collaboratively with colleagues across the region. You will also:

- Take ownership of, and manage the operational requirement to support the procurement of goods and service
- Identify and work to improve personal capabilities and progress your career within procurement through development
- Adhere to and administer the appropriate activities associated with the Eastern procurement process
- Undertake full range of procurement activities including obtaining supplier prices, tendering negotiation, and purchase order placement.
- Be pro-active, have a challenging and enquiring mindset, good team player and can act upon their own initiative
