Head Gardener

The Lee Ford Estate seeks a versatile and qualified Head Gardener with experience of managing a gardening team, and an excellent understanding of all horticultural techniques for this private family estate near Budleigh Salterton.

Typical duties will include maintenance and further development of the gardens and outdoor areas, as follows:

- General garden maintenance and management of all plantings.
- Maintenance of amenity lawns, flower beds and ornamental woodland.
- Fruit tree pruning and spraying.
- Vegetable and fruit production in a traditional walled garden.
- Plant pest and disease control.
- Propagation by cuttings and seed.
- Management of two greenhouses, a polytunnel and a large conservatory with numerous flowering pot plants.
- Occasional watering of the greenhouses at weekends.
- Experience of using and maintaining garden machinery.
- An understanding of Health & Safety and sustainable garden practices.

Salary £35,000 - £40,000.

Option to join the employer’s NEST contributory Pension Scheme.
