**About us**:
Information Services Division (ISD) is the primary provider of IT services to UCL. We support and enhance learning, teaching, research and administrative processes by providing information
- and technology-related services to over 50,000 staff and students of UCL and associated institutions.

Our goal is to be the leading IT services group in the HE sector and we are growing our team’s capability in experience/UX, agile development, security, cloud, service management and partnering. We are modernising our technology foundations, digitising the processes of the university to transform experience for students and staff, and partnering across the university to drive differentiation in UCL education and research.

**About the role**:
As a Windows Systems Administrator, you will sit within the Endpoint Management Platforms Team (EMP), which provides Windows server based infrastructure services to underpin Information Services Division’s Desktop, Print and related services. In addition to managing Windows Infrastructure Services, EMP also owns the Managed Desktop and the UCL Data Safe Haven Services.

You will be working within a small team to create, secure, and administer infrastructural Windows based technologies that underpin robust state-of-the art IT services for enterprise wide and smaller, specialised user communities that are both internal and external to the college, and operating within an ITIL service management framework.

Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

- Perform systems installation, administration, and maintenance of central infrastructure and other more specialised systems, in increasingly virtualised environments
- Plan and carry out small-scale technical development work within the team
- Follow group working practices (e.g. for systems installation) and standard ITIL processes such as problem and change management
- Develop scripts and small programs to automate system management tasks and data manipulation
- Monitoring system performance and resource utilisation.

**About you**:
As a Windows Infrastructure professional, you have both knowledge and practical experience of administering Windows based server operating systems in a service environment, with an ability to adapt to changing technologies. Additionally, you appreciate the issues involved in the central management of large numbers of systems that are geographically distributed, and of the need for strict change management discipline.

You will also be able to demonstrate the following:

- An ability to work in a datacentre environment, following and maintaining existing special health and safety procedures applicable to this environment.
- Knowledge of Directory & Authentication technologies, especially Active Directory
- Knowledge of the principles of TCP/IP networking, including familiarity with common Internet protocols (e.g. HTTP, SMTP, LDAP, SFTP/SSH, etc.) and associated client software
- An understanding of and commitment to working within the legal framework associated with the use of computers, specifically with regard to the dissemination of corporate, personal and sensitive information.

Although not essential it would be advantageous if you hold a qualification in ITIL.
