The role is predominantly delivering a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling however delivery may also be required across Leve 2 and 3 programmes. The purpose of the role is to enable learners to determine and achieve their learning goals throughthe provision of effective teaching, learning and assessment which develops learners’ personal, social and employability skills. This includes preparation, delivery and marking/assessment and development and management of all supporting documentation and learnerrecords.
We work within the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy or its equivalent. All Tutors are also required to work with the College to gain approval from CPCAB to teach on the programmes prior to confirmation of appointment.
**Counselling Lecturer Responsibilities**:
(including, but not limited to)
- formal scheduled teaching
- tutorials and student assessment
- management of learning programmes and curriculum development
- student admissions and induction
- educational guidance
- preparation of learning materials and student assignments
- marking of students’ work
- marking of internal examinations
- management of student agency placements
- research and other forms of scholarly activity related to the effective delivery of the curriculum
- marketing activities
- consultancy
- administration and organisational activities
- personal professional development
- development of workshop materials
- to liaise with vocational tutors

**Counselling Lecturer Requirements**:
Essential
- Level 5 teaching qualification, i.e. Cert. Ed. or equivalent or be prepared to gain this within 2 years of appointment
- Experience of teaching and assessing at level 3 or above
- Counselling qualification at Level 5 or above
- Literacy and Numeracy qualifications to at least Level 2
- Learner focused
- An understanding of ‘safeguarding’ and its importance within the College
- An understanding of Equal Opportunities and its importance at the College.

Desirable
- Supervision qualification or 1 years experience of providing supervision to groups or individuals in a counselling or life coaching setting
- Experience of teaching across a broad range of learner abilities and backgrounds

**Salary**: £10,299 to £13,835 actual per annum
