**Hours / weeks**: 22.5 hours / 38 weeks per year (term time, plus 2 weeks)
**Actual salary range**: £11,962.56 - £12,664.85 (£22,910 - £24,255 FTE)

Term time only staff who start mid year will have their initial salary payments calculated based on actual weeks worked and the number of pay dates between the beginning of employment and the end of the academic year.

In the role of Democracy and Citizenship Officer you’ll be based across all our sites and your focus will be on actively supporting and promoting the formation and activities of the Students’ Union at the College, helping to raise its profile.

Your key responsibilities will be to seek and organise training for SU officers, reps and ambassadors, to support Kirklees College SU to build links with other Students’ Unions, to facilitate the effective capture of and response to student voice in a timely manner, to support the organisation of a calendar of events and activities, relevant to the student body and to carry out administrative duties in support of the Student Voice cycle and Students’ Union.

Ideally, you’ll have a Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C (or be able to prove equivalent ability) and demonstrable experience in working with young people in an educational or youth work capacity. It’s important that you’re able to communicate, enthuse and empathise with students/young people, have excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate our College values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role.
